BRASIL-MINAS GERAIS PAVILION
25th Miami Book Fair International November 14-16, 2008
Brazil, an exciting country larger than the continental United States, four times the size of Mexico and more than twice as large as India, is a showcase of diversity. Occupying most of the eastern half of South America, it borders on all of the other nations with the exception of Chile and Ecuador. Its population of more than 196 million is nearly equal to that of the continent’s other nations combined. It is the land of beautiful beaches, rugged countryside, immense tropical forests and unique wetlands. This former Portuguese colony is also a melting pot of many races and cultures: the Indigenous peoples, the Africans that came as slaves, and the immigrants from Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

This year the Brazil Pavilion’s theme is Minas Gerais.
